Lexmark Maintenance Kit Setup - A maintenance kit of a Lexmark Printer is used to perform the necessary printer function. It includes a charge roller, transfer roller, separation roller (for ADF printers), and fuser unit.
How To Install Lexmark Maintenance Kit?
Usually, the maintenance kit of the Lexmark printer comes preinstalled. If it needs to be replaced, you have to get a new one from a trusted retailer.
To install the maintenance kit on the Lexmark printer, follow the below-mentioned steps.
Installing the Fuser Unit:
Turn off the Lexmark printer and wait for 30 minutes to let the printer to cool down.
Plug the power cord out from the printer.
If your Lexmark printer has a fuser wiper cover, remove it first.
Move on to the printer’s backside and gently open the back door.
Press down the black levers to access the fuser unit area.
Insert the new fuser unit into its compartment and screw the blue buttons.
Push the black lever to its locking position and close the printer’s back door.
Next, refix the fuser wiper cover (if applicable).
Now, the fuser unit is installed successfully on the Lexmark printer.
Installing the Transfer Roller:
Ensure that the Lexmark printer is turned off and completely cooled down.
Open the printer's front cover and pull out the toner cartridge & drum unit assembly from the printer.
Now, slide the transfer roller into the left side hole and twist it to fix in its locking position.
Make sure that the previously installed transfer roller has been removed.
After installing the transfer roller, refix the toner & drum unit assembly and close the front cover.
Installing the Media Pick Up Roller:
First, remove the paper input tray from the Lexmark printer.
Pinch the green buttons and hold the roller with one hand.
Next, use the other hand to pull down the blue tray.
Now, remove the media pick up roller (if it installed in the printer).
Install the new media pick up roller by sliding it to the left and refix the paper input tray.
Installing the Separation Roller:
Pull out the paper input tray and press the blue button to remove the separation roller (if any).
Install the new separation roller and ensure that it is fixed appropriately.
Refix the paper input tray into the printer.
How To Replace Lexmark Maintenance Kit Setup?
Replacing the Lexmark Printer’s Charge Roller:
First, turn off the Lexmark printer and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
Next, open the printer’s front cover and remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly.
Take out the charge roller from the printer and replace it with a new one.
You have to insert the charge roller at the left side hole first and then twist it to fix in the locking position.
Ensure that it is firmly seated and freely spinning.
Refix the toner cartridge & drum unit assembly and close the printer’s front cover.
Replacing the Fuser Unit:
Ensure that the Lexmark printer is turned off.
Disconnect printer’s power cord from the electrical outlet.
Remove the fuser cover and open the rear door.
Unscrew the two locks on the drive unit and take it out of the tabs.
Loosen the fuser assembly screws and take out the used fuser unit.
Unpack the new fuser unit and install it in the fuser compartment.
Tighten the screws and close the doors.
Next, refix the fuser cover and check whether you have installed the fuser unit correctly.
Replacing the Transfer Roller:
Open the Lexmark printer's front door and remove the toner cartridge unit.
Unsnap the transfer roller and take it out without damaging the internal parts of the printer.
Unpack the new transfer roller and insert it into the printer.
Re-install the toner cartridge unit and close the front cover.
Now, the transfer roller is replaced successfully on your Lexmark printer.
How To Reset Lexmark Maintenance Kit?
Resetting the Lexmark Maintenance Kit setup is necessary when it is replaced with a new one. Quick steps to reset your Lexmark’s printer’s maintenance kit are given below.
Turn on your Lexmark printer after replacing the maintenance kit.
Press and hold the Select + Return buttons for 8 seconds.
Release the buttons when the reset maintenance control menu is displayed.
If your printer displays the maintenance message, press the Select button.
Next, press the Menu button until the printer’s control panel displays the RESET MAINT CNT option.
Select the option and reboot your printer to reset the Lexmark Maintenance Kit setup.
