HP Officejet 5258 Setup Guidance

  1. Take a knife or blade and cut open the sealing tape at the top and sides of the HP5258 box.
  2. Set the HP5258 box on its side and slide the printer out.
  3. Use the blue plastic bag handles to remove the printer from the box.
  4. Discard the plastic bag.
  5. Peel off the packing tape and set it aside for recycling.
  6. "Raise" the HP Officejet 5258 setup’s scanner assembly, pull the input tray out, and remove the packing material from both these areas.
  7. Close the scanner assembly and push the input tray into the printer.
  8. "Attach" the power cable to the HP5258 machine’s rear Power port and wall outlet.
  9. Switch ON the HP5258 printer by touching the Power button.
  10. After a few minutes, the printer initializes, and the language selection screen appears.
  11. Choose any preferred language by tapping it once.

  8. Load a stack of A6 paper.
  9. Push the paper width guides towards the paper stack to secure it.
  10. Tap OK below the paper loading message.
  11. Slide out the paper support and flip open its extension.
  12. The printhead alignment prompt appears. Tap OK.
  13. Wait until the page is fully printed and then read the instructions printed on it.
  14. Place it face down on the machine’s scanner glass and close the lid.
  15. On the alignment page scanning screen, tap Scan. 
  16. When the 'alignment successful' message appears, tap OK.
  17. Then, you can tap Info --> Advanced setup and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

HP Officejet 5258 Driver Installation Guide

  1. Double-click the HP5258 driver that you downloaded on your computer and click Yes if the user account control window opens.
  2. Alternatively, insert the HP5258 software CD into your computer.
  3. The language selection screen appears.

A) Clean the printhead by using the HP software

  1. Set an A4 paper stack in the HP5258 machine’s paper tray, secure it with the edge guides, and slide it into the printer.
  2. Launch the HP printer software on your computer.
  3. Navigate to the Maintain option and click it.
