Epson Surecolor P400 Setup

Unboxing

  1. Set the Epson Surecolor P400 box on a flat surface and open it.
  2. The P400 box includes the Epson SureColor P400 Setup, power cable, cartridge set, CD printing tray, user guide, and other accessories. 
  3. Remove them from the box and set them aside.
  4. Keep the P400 printer on a flat surface and remove all the tapes stuck to the printer.
  5. Raise its top cover and peel off the tapes from the ink cartridge lid. Once all the tapes have been removed, close the lid.

Power Connection

  1. Uncoil the Epson power cord. Attach it to the Epson P400’s rear Power port and wall outlet.
  2. Now, go to the Epson P400’s control panel and press the Power button.
  3. Wait until the machine initializes.

Ink cartridges Installation

  1. After the P400 printer initializes, the Power LED glows steadily.
  2. Raise the top cover.
  3. Flip open the ink cartridge lid.
  4. Remove an ink cartridge from the package. Peel off the yellow tape from it.
  5. Place the cartridge in its appropriate slot on the cartridge holder and press it until it clicks into place.
  6. Repeat the steps given above to install the rest of the ink cartridges.
  7. Lower the cartridge lid and then close the top cover.

Ink Charging

  1. Ensure that the P400 machine’s front tray is closed and then press the Ink Charging button on the printer’s control panel.
  2. The Ink Charging button’s icon resembles an ink drop.
  3. Wait for about 4 minutes until the ink charging is complete.

Load Paper

  1. Raise the P400 printer’s paper output tray and gently pull out the extension.
  2. Likewise, pull out the output tray and its two extensions.
  3. Push the edge guide to the end. 
  4. Insert the paper stack short edge first into the paper tray and secure it with the edge guide.

Loading Via Manual Feed

  1. Epson P400 can print fine art paper, watercolor paper, watercolor paper, hot press, cold press paper, etc.
  2. Do note that the Epson P400 cannot accommodate the roll paper holder and the manual feed guide at the same time.
  3. When loading fine art paper, ensure that there is no paper in the sheet feeder. Close the sheet feeder.
  4. The output tray and its extensions need to be pulled out.
  5. Access the P400 printer’s rear side and push the edge guide to the right end.
  6. Install the single sheet guide. Make sure that you align its notches with the slots on the printer. The tabs need to be attached to the strip above the slot that has orange triangle markings.
  7. Power on the P400 machine to allow it to load the paper properly.
  8. Load a sheet of paper with the print side facing up and set it such that it rests against the right-hand side edge of the sheet guide.
  9. Secure it with the paper width guide.
  10. Gently slide the paper into the printer until you feel resistance. The Epson SureColor P400 setup then begins to feed the paper automatically. Let go of the paper when the feeding operation begins. 

Installing the Software

  1. Load the P400 software CD into the computer and run the software installer.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts and choose the appropriate connection method.
  3. Perform the rest of the actions shown on the screen to complete the initial P400 printer setup.

Install Epson SureColor P400 Driver

  1. Ensure that these requirements are met before beginning the P400 driver installation.
  2. Ensure that the router is wirelessly connected to a computer.
  3. On this computer, the P400 driver will be installed.
  4. Also, make a note of the Wi-Fi SSID and passphrase.
  5. Load the P400 driver CD into your computer.
  6. Alternatively, run the P400 software installer that you downloaded from the manufacturer’s site.
  7. The P400 software installer’s dashboard appears.
  8. Accept the Epson installer’s T&C.
  9. Ensure that all the Epson SureColor P400 setup software packages are selected and click Install.
  10. On the next P400 software installer screen, you can choose whether the updater, print CD, and Guide link have to be installed.
  11. Choose a connection method from the options shown on the screen. Follow the rest of the installer’s on-screen prompts to complete the driver installation.

Steps: Epson SureColor P400 Wireless Setup

Ensure that you have a computer connected to a wireless network to which you want to connect the P400.

Note:Click the Next button to advance to the successive screens.

  1. Run the P400 installer on your computer and follow the on-screen prompts until the connection screen appears.
  2. Pick the Wireless connection option located at the top of the list.
  3. Choose the option to set up the P400 for the first time.
  4. Select the ‘Using printer buttons’ option and tap the Home button on the Epson SureColor P400 setup.
  5. Tap the Wireless icon and then pick the Wi-Fi Setup option.
  6. Touch the Wi-Fi Setup Wizard option and wait until the Wi-Fi SSID list loads.
  7. Select your Wi-Fi SSID and tap the Password field. 
  8. Key in the Wi-Fi passphrase by using the on-screen keyboard. Tap the Enter key.
  9. Make sure that you enter the upper case and lower case letters correctly.
  10. Tap OK.

Epson Surecolor P400 How to Print

  1. On your PC, navigate to the document/photo you need to print and open it.
  2. Click File and then select Print.
  3. Choose the Epson SureColor P400 setup from the Printer drop-down list.
  4. Click the Printing Preferences option.
  5. The P400 printer’s Main tab is displayed.
  6. Set the media type, source, and size of the document that needs to be printed.
  7. Pick a Color option, such as color or grayscale.
  8. Click the 'Print Preview' button to view how the printed document will look.
  9. After ensuring that the P400 printing preferences have been set correctly, click Print.

Epson SureColor P400 vs P600 Guide

The Epson Surecolor P400 and P600 are excellent color printers with B&W capabilities as well.

The P400 has 8-Color Ultrachrome HG2 pigment ink, and the P600 model has 9-Color Epson UltraChrome HD ink.

In terms of connectivity features, the P400 supports Wi-Fi 802.11n, and the P600 supports both Wireless n and Wi-Fi Direct.

The P600 has cartridges that have twice the ink capacity of the P600 cartridges. What this means is more savings on ink cartridges for a P600 user.

Epson SureColor P400 Setup Troubleshooting Guidance

Epson SureColor P400 won't Print Guide

  1. Check whether the Epson SureColor P400 setup is connected to the computer correctly.
  2. Power off the P400 printer.
  3. Disconnect the power and network interfacing cable from the printer and connected devices.
  4. Check whether these cables have been damaged. If they are damaged, replace them immediately.
  5. Reattach the cables and power on all the devices. Check whether the printing issue has been resolved.
  6. Navigate to Start-->Control Panel-->Printers-->Right-click Epson Surecolor P400-->Ensure that ‘Set as Default Printer’ is ticked.
  7. Try running the printhead cleaning procedure, or replace the ink cartridges if they are low on ink.
  8. If these solutions fail to resolve the printing issue, try uninstalling the P400 printer driver, restarting the computer, and reinstalling the driver.
  9. Also, make sure that the P400 printer is connected directly to the electrical outlet and not via a surge protector. The printer manufacturer recommends that you do not use a surge protector.

Epson Surecolor P400 Screen Printing Solution

  1. Attach the two tabs supplied in the box to the roll paper holder. If the single sheet guide has been attached to the P400 printer, detach it and then proceed to install the roll paper holder to the printer.
  2. Align the markings on the roll paper holder tabs with the markings on the rear side of the printer and attach the holder to the printer.
  3. Ensure that the roll paper holder is attached to the P400 printer firmly and then pull out a sufficient length of the screen over the roller and on the printer.
  4. Make a straight cut across the screen with an appropriate cutting tool, such as a blade. (This is because the screen’s short edge might not be uniform at the end.)
  5. Raise the rear top cover. Squeeze the button on the edge guide and push it to the machine’s end that is away from the cartridge slots.
  6. Pull the screen over the roller and into the slot directly in front of the roller. Push the screen into the slot until you feel resistance.
  7. The Epson SureColor P400 setup automatically begins feeding the screen.
  8. Install the Epson driver software found in the CD supplied in the box.
  9. After installing the Epson printer software, select the document to be printed and set the printing preferences.
  10. Click Print to begin printing on the screen.

How to Clean Epson SureColor P400?

  1. Power off the Epson P400 printer.
  2. Remove the paper sheet feeder.
  3. Detach the power cord from the Epson machine and then remove the other network interfacing cables.
  4. Take the roll paper away from the roll paper holder and detach the roll paper holder from the P400 machine.
  5. Use a lint-free cloth to remove dust/debris from the paper support and feed tray.
  6. If any of the P400 machine’s covers are open, close them and then proceed to wipe the printer’s exterior surfaces. (Dip the cloth in a mild detergent before wiping the machine’s exterior surfaces.
  7. Reattach the paper sheet feeder to the Epson P400 printer.
  8. After cleaning the printer, reattach the power and networking cables.
  9. Power on the Epson SureColor P400 setup and then load a paper stack in its sheet feeder.
  10. To ensure that there is no dust buildup in the P400 printer’s paper output tray, keep it closed when it is not in use.
