Epson SureColor P800 Setup Steps

Unboxing

  1. Cut the P800 printer box’s sealing tape and pull the flaps back.
  2. Take all the Epson printer accessories out of the box and set them aside.
  3. There should be ink cartridges, a power cable, a user guide, and the Epson SureColor P800 setup inside the box.
  4. Set the P800 printer on a flat surface and peel off all the tapes.
  5. Raise the P800 machine’s top cover, peel off the tapes, and remove the packing materials.
  6. Touch the front bottom lid with some force to open it.
  7. Take out the transportation lock and discard it. Close the lid.

Power Connection

  1. Take the Epson power cable out of the package.
  2. Uncoil it and attach it to the Epson P800’s rear Power port and wall outlet.
  3. Go to the P800 machine’s front side and press the Power button.
  4. Raise the control panel.
  5. By using the P800 control panel’s on-screen buttons, select the preferred language.
  6. After about 45 seconds, the cartridge access door unlocks automatically. 
  7. Raise the cartridge access door.
  8. Shake an Epson ink cartridge back and forth for about five times and then take it out of the package.
  9. Push this ink cartridge into its respective slot and keep pushing it in until it locks into place.
  10. Similarly, install the rest of the Epson ink cartridges.
  11. Close the cartridge access door.

Ink Charging

  1. After you install all the ink cartridges, the Epson SureColor P800 begins charging ink to the delivery system.
  2. This process usually takes 10 minutes. During this time, it is recommended that you do not turn off the printer, load paper, or open any lid.

Load Paper

  1. In the P800, plain, glossy, and matte paper can be loaded in its sheet feeder.
  2. Flip open the paper support to extend the paper support components fully.
  3. Press the P800 machine’s bottom front lid to open it.
  4. Pull out the output tray.
  5. Load the print media stack short edge first into the paper feeder slot against the right edge of the slot.
  6. Squeeze the button on the edge width guide and push it towards the paper until it secures the stack.
  7. You can load fine art media in the P800’s rear paper support. Before flipping it open and loading paper there, you need to take out the paper and close the sheet feeder.
  8. Lower the rear paper support.
  9. Pull out the rear paper support’s extensions.
  10. To load a single sheet of fine art media, follow these steps.
  11. Press the front bottom lid to open it.
  12. Press the manual feed tray’s center section to allow it to extend outward.
  13. Insert the fine art media short edge first with the print side faceup into the slot right below the top front lid. Make sure the media’s right edge rests against the right edge of the slot.
  14. Keep feeding the paper until it reaches the line marked on the tray.
  15. Pull the media back until its rear edge rests against the rear edge of the tray.
  16. Tap the Load option on the printer’s LCD.
  17. After the media is loaded, push the manual feed tray into the Epson SureColor P800 setup.
  18. Pull out the output tray and its extension.
  19. Choose the paper size and paper type. Tap OK.
  20. Install the P800 driver on your computer to complete the rest of the setup.

Install Epson SureColor P800 Driver Software

  1. Double-click the Epson P800 software installer. 
  2. Wait until the P800 software installer dashboard loads.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. When prompted to "agree" to the terms & conditions, click Agree.
  5. "Choose" the P800 software packages to be installed.
  6. "Click" Install.
  7. If prompted to enter the computer admin username and password, do so and click OK.
  8. After the P800 printer’s software packages are installed, the Printer Setup window appears. Click Start.
  9. Choose the network connection method and follow the rest of the P800 installer’s on-screen prompts to complete the driver installation.

How to Change Ink on Epson Surecolor P800?

Note:Take the Epson ink cartridge out of the package only when you are going to install it immediately. Unpacking it and installing it after some time might result in the ink drying out.

  1. Power on the Epson SureColor P800 setup.
  2. Press the machine’s Home button.
  3. Check the ink levels. Tap the Ink level button to view the levels.
  4. Choose the ‘Open ink cover’ option.
  5. The P800 machine’s ink cartridge cover opens.
  6. Raise the cartridge cover to access the cartridges.
  7. Locate the cartridge that needs to be replaced.
  8. Press the lever located on top of it to release the cartridge.
  9. Remove this cartridge from its slot.
  10. Jiggle it for about five times and then install it.
  11. Push it into its slot until it locks into place.
  12. Remove and install the rest of the Epson ink cartridges if needed.
  13. Lower the cartridge cover.
  14. Wait until the P800 printer charges ink to the delivery system. Do not turn it off or open any lid when the ink is charged.

  1. When installing the P800 driver and utilities package, the Printer Setup screen appears.
  2. Click Start.
  3. Choose Wireless Connection-->Continue.
  4. Select ‘Set up printer for the first time’ and click Continue.
  5. The P800 software installer displays the prompts to connect the P800 printer to the wireless network.
  6. Once the connection is established, you will be prompted to add the printer.
  7. After adding the P800 printer to the computer, print a test page to test the connection.

How to Print on Epson SureColor P800?

Load paper in the P800 printer.

  1. For loading plain, matte, or glossy paper, use the sheet feeder. Flip open the sheet feeder located on the top rear portion of the P800 machine, and pull out the feeder’s extensions.
  2. Load the print media into the slot faceup towards the right side. Slide the edge guide towards the paper to secure it.
  3. For loading fine art media, use the front manual feed tray. Access it by pressing the front lid of the P800 printer.
  4. Flip open the rear paper support and pull out its extensions.
  5. Return to the P800 machine’s front side.
  6. Firmly press the manual sheet feeder’s central section to extend the tray.
  7. Insert the media short edge first faceup into the slot towards the right side of the printer until it reaches the marking on the feeder.
  1. Adjust the paper width guide to secure it.
  2. Tap Load.
  3. When the paper is loaded, close the feed tray.
  4. Pull out the output tray.
  5. Return to the P800’s control panel and set the paper size & type. Tap OK.
  6. Open the text or picture file you want to print on your computer.
  7. Select Print.
  8. Choose Epson SureColor P800 setup from the Printer drop-down list.
  9. Set the printing preferences. Click OK.

How to Scan on Epson Surecolor P800?

The Epson P800 does not support scanning.

Solved: Epson SureColor P800 Offline Issue

  1. Check whether the P800 printer is connected to the computer correctly.
  2. Power off the Epson SureColor P800 setup.
  3. Disconnect the power and network interfacing cable from the printer and connected devices.
  4. Check whether these cables have been damaged. If they are damaged, replace them immediately.
  5. Reattach the cables and power on all the devices. Check whether the printing issue has been resolved.
  6. Navigate to Start-->Control Panel-->Printers-->Right-click Epson Surecolor P800-->Ensure that ‘Set as Default Printer’ is ticked.
  7. Try running the printhead cleaning procedure, or replace the ink cartridges if they are low on ink.
Epson Surecolor P800 Offline
  1. If these solutions fail to resolve the printing issue, try uninstalling the P800 printer driver, restarting the computer, and reinstalling the driver.
  2. Also, make sure that the P800 printer is connected directly to the electrical outlet and not via a surge protector. The printer manufacturer recommends that you do not use a surge protector.

Locate the jammed paper.

Jammed Paper in The Sheet Feeder

  1. Pull out the jammed paper from the front output slot or sheet feeder, whichever is easier.
  2. Flip open the P800 printer’s top cover and remove the jammed paper carefully.
  3. Lower the cover and tap Resume.
  4. Power off the Epson SureColor P800 setup and then power it on. If the jammed paper cannot be accessed, contact Epson tech support.

Jammed Paper in the Front Manual Feed Tray

  1. Go to your computer and stop the print job.
  2. Locate where the paper is jammed in the manual feed tray. 
  3. If it is easier to remove the jammed paper from the front, remove it from there.
  4. If the jammed paper can be removed from the rear easily, remove it from there.
  5. Make sure that you use both hands when removing jammed paper from the P800 printer.

Jammed Paper Because of Thick Media

  1. Similar to the manual feed tray paper jam, the first step is to stop the print job.
  2. Pull the jammed paper out of the Epson SureColor P800 setup either from the front or rear slot, whichever is simpler.
  3. Open the P800 printer’s top cover and remove the jammed paper from the machine.
  4. Close the top cover and press the Resume button.
  5. If the error persists, power off the P800 printer and turn it on again.

Jammed Paper Because of Roll Paper

  1. Stop the print job from your PC.
  2. Use a pair of scissors to cut the paper at the point beside the roll paper feeder.
  3. Pull out the jammed paper from the front or rear sided of the printer.
  4. Flip open the top cover and remove the jammed paper from there as well.
  5. Close the top cover and tap Resume.
  6. Power off the P800 and power it on if the paper jam error persists.
  7. Also, press the print job cancellation button on the P800’s control panel and tap Eject or Cut/Eject to forcibly eject the jammed paper.
  8. Make sure that you choose the correct paper settings in the Epson SureColor P800 setup software to avoid paper jams.

How to Reset Epson SureColor P800?

  1. Revert the P800 printer’s settings to its factory default by following these steps.
  2. Tap the Home button.
  3. Select the Setup option and view the Setup screen options.
  4. Select System Administration.
  5. Choose All Settings to reset the P800 printer settings.
  6. Choose Yes.
  7. Alternatively, perform a power reset by following these steps.
  8. While the P800 printer is still on, detach the power cord from the printer’s rear Power port.
  9. Then, detach the Epson power cord from the wall outlet.
