BAsic setup

1. Unbox

    Place the carton on a stable surface and unbox the printer.
  • Check if you have received the other printer accessories in the box.
  • Peel off all the packaging tapes and remove the protective materials from the inside and outside of the printer.

2. Fill up ink tanks

  1. Keep the ink tank cover open; after that, unfold the cap of the ink tank, which you are about to fill.
  2. Now, remove the new ink bottle from the package, and turn open the bottle cap when you are filling.
  3. Place the bottle opening into the ink tank inlet port and hold the bottle until the ink tank fills.Also, see that you do not squeeze the bottle.
  4. After the ink tank is full, take the bottle out from the filling port and close the bottle with the cap.
  5. If there is ink remaining in the bottle, you can use it later.
  6. Continue to fill the other ink tanks using the corresponding ink bottles and finally close the ink tank cover.

3. Power connection

  1. Attach the power cable to the printer, then plug the other end to a wall socket.
  2. Switch on the Epson printer by pressing its Power button.
  3. See if the printer display shows any error message, if there is no message, then the printer setup is correct.

4. Basic Settings

  1. On the home screen, set the language, time & date, and region/country for the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 setup.
  2. Following that, the screen displays the message “Start Here.” At that time, press the OK button for 5 seconds to start with the ink charge in the printer.
  3. For each color in the printer, you have to confirm the ink charge on the printer’s LCD panel by selecting Proceed, and then tap Startto begin ink charging into the printer system.
  4. When the ink charging completes, a message displays on the printer screen. Now, select Close

5. Feed paper in the cassette

  1. Draw out the paper cassette from the printer and move the paper guides to the extent of the tray.
  2. Arrange the paper stack by keeping the print face down and then place it against the front edge of the cassette.
  3. Now, adjust the paper guides to the edges of the paper, but do not bend or cripple the paper.
  4. Verify that the paper level is below the maximum limit indicator.
  5. After that, replace the paper cassette into the printer and continue to set the paper settings on the LCD screen.

6. Fax connection

  1. Connect the telephone cord from the telephone wall jack to the LINE port on the printer.
  2. Open the Fax settings on the control panel and make the necessary settings.

7. Install printer software

  1. Later, when the hardware setup is done, proceed to install the Epson printer software on your computer.

You can print through a wireless network by following the below steps:

  1. At first, complete the physical setup of the printer, then turn on the wireless router network.
  2. Note down the Network SSID and the password and connect your computer to the router network.
  3. The printer must remain turned on during the entire process.
  4. The printer driver package is required to install the software on your computer.
  5. You get the driver package online or from the printer’s installation CD.
  6. Next, open the software package and run the installation.

Using Wi-Fi Direct:

The Wi-Fi Direct mode of the printer lets you connect your computer or mobile device without the router network.

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to the Home screen and select the Wireless connection
  2. The Network Connection Settingsmenu shows up on the LCD panel. Choose Wi-Fi Direct and then select the Start Setup
  3. Select the OS version of your device. If it’s a mobile phone, then scan the QR code that appears on the printer display.
  4. In the case of the computer, an SSID and password will appear.Use them to connect the computer to the printer network.
  5. When the computer is successfully connected to the printer, the Wi-Fi setup is done.
