The Canon Ij Scan Utility Code 11, 244, 0 error may occur due to a setting in Windows Defender that is called Controlled folder access. If this feature is turned on, you cannot scan with IJ Scan Utility. There are two ways given below to fix the issue.

Method 1: Turning off Windows Defender controlled folder access

  1. Click on the Windows Defender icon on the taskbar.
  2. Now, go to Settings, and navigate to the Update & Security section. Select Windows Defender.
  3. Open the Windows Defender Security Center window.
  4. Go to the Virus & threat protection section and click Virus & threat protection settings.
  5. In the Controlled folder access section, turn off the toggle switch button.
  6. When prompted for confirmation, select Yes.
  7. Now, you can easily scan with Canon IJ Scan Utility.

Method 2: Allowing the scan utility to work with Windows Defender

You have to give access to the scan utility to work through Windows Defender. If you are not following the first method, you have to add the IJ Scan Utility program to the allowed apps list.

  1. In the Controlled folder access section, under Virus & threat protection settings, select the Allow an app through the Controlled folder access option.
  2. Click on the ‘+’ icon in the Add an allowed app section.
  3. Now, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\IJ Scan Utility.
  4. Double-click on SCANUTILITY.exe. You can see this in the list of allowed apps.
  5. If the IJ Scan Utility program opens when you add it via Controlled folder access, close the IJ Scan Utility program and re-open it. 
  6. The Canon IJ Scan Utility code 11, 244, 0 will now be fixed, and you can start scanning from the program.
